A .69 FRENCH MODEL 1822T (TRANSFORME) PERCUSSION MUSKET, ST. ETIENNE CIRCA 1850, no 2527, with 40in. barrel, block and blade front-sight and a bayonet stud on underside near the muzzle, breech stamped with various French proof and inspection stamps (faint), the barrel tang engraved1822 and fitted with a vee block rear-sight, the lock of flintlock form engraved "ML. RLE DE ST. ETIENNE", full walnut stock stamped with the no. 2527 on the left butt, fitted with regulation iron mounts including three barrel bands, complete with sling swivels and replacement rod, Originally made as a Model 1822 flintlock musket and converted to percussion circa 1850. Muskets such as this were used by some French units during the early stages on the Crimean War. Metalwork polished bright,
